Project Overview
New Century Tooling Co., Ltd. successfully completed a new car center console development project for Volvo, delivering a complete one-stop solution from 3D scanning to injection molding mass production. During project development, the customer together with the end customer from Volvo visited the New Century team to discuss the timing plan, project goals, and how New Century could provide one-stop solutions and technical support to make this project successful.
Customer Challenge
The customer only had samples from an old car model. Their goal was to reuse the old samples with modifications to develop new projects for new car models. The key challenges included:
- No existing 3D drawings for the new center console design
- Requirement to reuse legacy sample geometry while meeting new vehicle specifications
- Strict timing plan and quality standards set by the Volvo end customer
- Need for a reliable partner capable of managing the complete development chain

- 3D Scanning: Old samples were scanned by 3D scanning technology to create accurate new 3D drawings.
- Design Modification: The product development department performed modifications on the new 3D drawings to meet new car requirements.
- Mold Manufacturing: Final drawings were confirmed and used to design and manufacture molds for injection production.
- Mass Production: Injection molding production started with full process control and quality assurance.
