Project A236 WWS WKZ from Mercedes-Benz Germany
In the early stages of this project development, our client, Mercedes-Benz representatives, and the New Century team discussed the DM report, Moldflow report, timeline, project objectives, and how New Century could provide mold design and manufacturing solutions and technical support to ensure the project's success via video conference.
After the project development commenced, the client provided 3D and 2D product models. However, they required the New Century team to evaluate the 3D model and provide reasonable modification suggestions before mold making, offering the optimal solution for the new project's launch.
The New Century team's solution for the client was that, based on our engineering team's professional mold technology analysis, we provided numerous optimization suggestions for the 3D model in the DFM and Moldflow reports, facilitating modifications and optimizations to the 3D product model. This allowed us to obtain the final optimized drawings, which were then used to create the injection molding molds.
During the FOT trial production, we produced some plastic products and then conducted 3D scanning and error color image analysis on the samples to check all shapes and dimensions. Our client and Mercedes-Benz's quality department were very satisfied with our service, quality, and technology after reviewing the 3D scan quality report.
Production commenced at the end of 2022, and the project has been very successful. The molds are functioning well, 100% of the injection-molded plastic parts are qualified, and the assembled products are perfectly suited for Mercedes-Benz's new vehicles.
